DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a picture that nicely complements the setting of the movie. While colors have a warm appearance, there is a slightly veiled quality that prohibits a look of full saturation. Still, for a film set in the mid- to late-1700s, the color scheme seems appropriate. While detail is nicely rendered, the picture has a slightly soft quality. Pixelization and edge enhancement can be bothersome. The overall quality of the image is good, but this is not a picture to use when showing off your home theatre display. (Suzanne Hodges)
