    Story Synopsis:
    "Footloose" is the spirited story of youthful exuberance against the rigid morality of a Midwestern farm town. Ren McCormick (Bacon) has moved from the big city and finds himself in an uptight town where music has been banned. Ren rebels against the ordinance and with friends, Willard (Penn) and the minister

    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits a picture that is a bit soft in appearance, though details can be nicely rendered at times. Colors are dated with slightly brownish fleshtones and undefined blacks. Contrast appears a bit low, limiting detail, with poor shadow delineation. Edge enhancement can be a problem at times. The source element is revealing of some minor dirt. (Suzanne Hodges)

    Soundtrack:
    The Dolby Digital 5.1-channel remastered soundtrack, features, as expected, music that substantially penetrates the spatial soundstage. In this respect, the surrounds are prominent in nature, and there's nice accompanying deep bass with some .1 LFE engagement. The music and the dialogue also exhibit the original recording's dated fidelity, though, and the latter especially can sound somewhat strident. The soundtrack repurposing also includes ambient effects which are subtly yet noticeably spacious. (Perry Sun)
