DVD Picture:
The differences between this newly remastered and anamorphically enhanced (finally!) 2.35:1 Ultimate Edition DVD and the previously released non-anamorphic versions are astounding. Starting with the color scheme, fidelity is more accurately balanced and natural, while the previous versions appeared oversaturated with dark browns and orange hues. Details are much more accurately rendered here, though many scenes still have a considerably soft appearance. Edge enhancement was extremely annoying on the previous versions, but is now much less of a distraction (though still quite apparent) on the Ultimate Edition. There is some occasional source element damage (most notably Ultimate Edition: Chapter 20, previous DVD: Chapter 12) on this new Director
Soundtrack:
The audio on this DVD is a new soundtrack remastering effort, offering an enhanced sense of dimension and atmosphere. The new audio also features a back surround channel via Surround EX encoding for Dolby
