Story Synopsis:
Geeks and brat-packers remastered! Three of John Hughes' most popular movies -- "The Breakfast Club," "Sixteen Candles," and "Weird Science" -- have been re-issued with 16:9 enhancement, and are available individually or as a DVD set. In addition, two of the three titles are appearing with multichannel soundtracks for the first time, and all three have their original songs intact (some songs were replaced with alternate songs in previous home video editions).Samantha Baker (Ringwald) is a slightly melancholy teen on the verge of seeing Sixteen Candles on her birthday cake. DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD looks great for its age, with few obviously dated characteristics. Colors are quite natural, with accurate fleshtones and generally deep blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed, with nicely balanced contrast and shadow delineation. A few minor flecks of dirt are noticed in the source element. There is little in the way of pixelization or edge enhancement, leaving few distractions to detract from this John Hughes classic. (Suzanne Hodges)
