    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits a bright picture with rich hues, accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. The picture is generally sharp and detailed, though details occasionally appear a bit smeared. The picture has a bit of a gritty texture, with some grain inherent in the source element. Some smearing or loss of finer details, especially those in higher contrast scenes, appear to be negative affects of noise reduction. Edge enhancement and pixelization can also be a problem. (Suzanne Hodges) The disc also includes a modified 1.33:1 (4:3) version of the movie (not reviewed).

    Soundtrack:
    The 5.1-channel soundtracks present a prominent, rather powerful soundstage presentation, and also excellent dimensional engagement. Because of the substantial overall volume level, the audio can sound a little forward at times. Still, fidelity is exemplary, and the perceived tonal balance is usually neutral. The music is the predominant element of this remixed soundtrack (by MiCasa Multimedia, who also worked on Next Friday), with a wholesome, seamless, enveloping presence all around. Also associated with the music is a deep, penetrating low-end, with aggressive engagement of the LFE channel.
