Includes audio commentary by director/writer Michael Polish and writer/actor Mark Polish, the chaptered 37-minute featurette Bareknuckle Filmmaking: The Construction Of Northfork, a gallery of stills, the Sundance Channel
Story Synopsis:
A group of men is sent to Northfork, Montana, to convince the remaining residents to evacuate as the town is scheduled to be flooded by the waters of a new hydroelectric dam. But these last few residents of Northfork are not going to make their job easy.
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced DVD picture exhibits a stylized picture with desaturated hues that create a lonely and isolating mood. There is very little in the way of rich color saturation, resulting in an almost monochromatic, nearly black-and-white picture that is quite effective for the storytelling. Images exhibit satisfying sharpness and detail, although a soft focus is often used, creating hazy images with glowing whites. A few flecks of dirt are revealed from the source element. Edge enhancement is an occasional distraction, especially in the higher contrast scenes, but there is minimal pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
