DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture exhibits beautifully photographed images, though sometimes smeared and lacking natural detail and fine textures. Colors are richly saturated, with natural fleshtones and deep blacks, though sometimes hues appear a bit flat or pasty. Contrast can seem a bit low, but shadow delineation is satisfying. Edge enhancement and pixelization are often apparent, though there are many scenes that are without these distractions. Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital Surround EX audio is impressive in fidelity and spatial engagement. The music has been well-recorded and really wraps around the listener. The use of the back surround channel is a contributing factor in this regard. And then at times, all three surround channels are engaged prominently with the music. There
