DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1-framed DVD picture exhibits a gritty texture that can be more stylish than obtrusive. The picture is generally sharp and detailed, with many blown-out whites and highly contrasted images. Details can seem a bit lacking in longer shots. Lots of cool hues flood the color palette, like blues and greens, and blacks are deep, but undefined. Edge enhancement is quite annoying, almost separating objects from their surroundings. Overall, the picture has very harsh characteristics, but much of it seems to be intentional as film grain is very much a presence in the picture. (Suzanne Hodges)
