DVD Picture:
Compared to the previously released Anchor Bay DVD, this new anamorphically enhanced Universal DVD picture (framed at 1.85:1) exhibits noticeably better contrast and color fidelity. While the previous DVD picture appears smeared and oversaturated, colors are more concise, while remaining richly saturated with deep blacks. The picture can appear a bit dark, but shadow delineation is adequate. Pixel breakup is noticed, but edge enhancement is not much of a problem. Film grain (which some viewers may perceive as being excessive), dirt, and artifacts are inherent in the source element. (Suzanne Hodges)
