Story Synopsis:
In this remake of the 1955 comedy caper written by William Rose, screenwriting masters Joel and Ethan Coen take a stab at The Ladykillers. Tom Hanks starrs as Goldthwait Higginson Dorr III, who happens upon the doorstep of spry churchgoing little old lady Marva Munson (Hall) looking for a room to rent and a place for his "band" to meet. But the fact of the matter is that G.H.'s band is a group of less-than-intelligent thieves who intend to tunnel through Munson's root cellar and into a casino vault full of riches. They plot to do her in when Munson catches wind of the rats in the cellar...but they hilariously underestimate that the Lord works in mysterious ways. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced DVD picture has a warm color scheme that visually depicts the Deep South setting of the movie. Hues are nicely saturated with lots of golden overtones, rich browns, accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. Images are sharp and detailed, with satisfying textures throughout Ms. Munson
