    Story Synopsis:
    Dutch (Schwarzenegger) and Dillon (Weathers) are two special forces military soldiers who team up when they are sent to rescue a group of hostages held by guerrilla fighters in Central America. After a fierce battle with the local guerrillas, they head deep into the jungle to find and extract the hostages, but discover the men slaughtered in a gruesome manner. One-by-one, Dutch

    DVD Picture:
    With this being the third release of Predator on DVD, the movie still falls short of stellar image quality. This new anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 Special Edition DVD picture is slightly improved over the previously released DVD (reviewed in Issue 46) due to some minor cleanup in the way of source element artifacts. The picture is generally sharp throughout, and can appear nicely textured, but other times finer details are wanting. Color fidelity seems to be just shy of full saturation, especially evident in the milky blacks, though reds pop from the otherwise mediocre, green-filled color palette with full force. Fleshtones tend to appear a bit ruddy. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered. The sky above the forest is often overblown. Some grain is apparent, as are source element artifacts. Pixelization is not too much of a problem in the picture, but is noticed on occasion. Finicky viewers, however, will notice edge enhancement at times. (Suzanne Hodges)
