Story Synopsis:
Poor old Peter La Fleur (Vaughn) needs $50,000 to save his gym, Average Joe's, from being foreclosed on. What's he going to do? His arch enemy White Goodman (Stiller), owner of the town's snazziest gym in town, plans to take over and bulldoze Peter's fitness center and make it into his own parking lot. With 30 days to come up with the cash, Average Joe's group of athletes decide to compete for The Las Vegas International "Dodgeball" Open and win the $50,000 prize to save their club. It's "A True" tale, I tell ya, it's an "Underdog Story." Winner take all! (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture is bright and colorful, and perfectly complementary to the storytelling. Images are sharp and detailed, and there are times when clothing textures, facial features, and even the rubber detail on the dodgeballs are very nicely rendered. Colors are rich and vibrant, with accurate fleshtones, bold hues, and deep, solid blacks. Colors are especially striking on the dodgeball arena during the championships. Some pixel breakup is occasional, but edge enhancement is not a problem with this title. (Suzanne Hodges)
