Story Synopsis:
Despite a wonderful marriage to Beverly (Sarandon) and being blessed with two great kids, John Clark (Gere) is searching for something more in his life. On a whim, he signs up for ballroom dancing lessons, but neglects to include his wife in his new hobby. She becomes suspicious of his late nights and hires an investigator...only to be relieved that he is not having an affair, but hurt by his secret. Shall We Dance is based on the Japanese film of the same name, written by Masayuki Suo. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture exhibits a well-balanced, nicely saturated color scheme (especially in the dance competition segment). Images are nicely detailed with pleasing textures, contrast and shadow delineation. Very slight edge enhancement is occasionally noticed, and pixelization is also quite limited. (Suzanne Hodges)
