Story Synopsis:
Set during the 1930s in London, England, "Bright Young Things" is a delightful fast-paced story revolving around writer Adam (Moore) and his true love Nina (Mortimer). After losing his manuscript while going through customs, Adam is forced to come up with another way of raising money so that he may marry the woman of his dreams, and life becomes nothing but one big party. Based on the novel "Vile Bodies" by Evelyn Waugh. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture exhibits moody, hazy images that create visual nostalgia to complement the setting of the tale. Colors are rich and well balanced, and are often creatively used to set the tone. Images are often intentionally softly focused with a veil of haze, but details are adequate throughout. The picture has an easy-on-the-eyes appearance, and is often visually intriguing with its use of color. The source element is revealing of some film grain at times, which lends a gritty texture and substance to the stylized picture. Rarely is pixelization noticed; and edge halos are also quite minor. The picture is very effective in placing the viewer into the story. (Suzanne Hodges)
