Story Synopsis:
Beautiful pop singer, Rachel Marron (Houston), is adorned with fame, fortune, and success; a word in which she has everything. But with her rising celebrity status comes a series of violent threats on her life by crazed fans. This leads her and her staff to seek the professional protection of a bodyguard, and one in particular. Enter tough, un-emotional, and high in-demand ex-secret service agent, Frank Farmer (Costner), who has taken on the task of serving as The Bodyguard to the superstar. Protection involves a change in lifestyle for the star, both professionally and personally, but most of all emotionally as the threat on her life becomes serious. (Gary Reber)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture exhibits slightly dated fidelity. The picture is sharp, with satisfying detail and definition. The picture can have an intentionally moody haze occasionally incorporated into the visuals. Colors are well balanced and nicely saturated, with accurate fleshtones and deep blacks. There are a few flecks of dirt noticed in the source element. Pixelization and edge enhancement are noticed, but are quite limited. (Suzanne Hodges)
