Story Synopsis:
Though certainly not as well known as another of Tom Stoppard's screenplays, Shakespeare In Love, "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" is a comical depiction of another play from the days of the Shakespearean era. This time two of the characters from Hamlet, Rosencrantz (Oldman) and Guildenstern (Roth), explore the tale from their own bizarre perspectives. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture exhibits satisfying quality, with generally sharp and detailed images and pleasing textures. Color fidelity is generally well balanced, with adequate saturation though fleshtones can seem ruddy at times. Contrast and shadow details seem a bit limited, as some scenes appear a bit too dark and poorly delineated.
