Story Synopsis:
Based on the screenplay by Tracy Keenan Wynn from a story by Albert S. Ruddy and the movie starring Burt Reynolds, this new remake of The Longest Yard features Adam Sandler as Paul "Wrecking" Crewe (Sandler); a former football player who finds himself in some serious trouble after a drunken police chase lands him in the Allenville Penetentiary. There, he and a crew of cons go head-to-head against the guards of the prison for the entertainment of the warden (Cromwell). (Suzanne Hodges)

DVD Picture:
The anamoprhically enhanced DVD picture exhibits a color scheme that is quite impressive and richly saturated at the beginning of the presentation, ending with the police chase on a pitch black night with vibrant street lights and blaring CHP lightbars. As the story progresses to the penitentiary, the color scheme takes on a desaturated appearance. Unfortunately, the picture does have a soft characteristic, as finer details often suffer and some scenes appear a bit blurry. Minor edge halos and occasional pixel breakup can be detected. Overall the picture is satisfying; at times pleasing. (Suzanne Hodges)
