Special features on Disc One include 13 deleted scenes, 15 minutes of outtakes/alternate takes, a 19-minute featurette titled "That Little Extra" which dicusses how Waiting... came to be, soundtrack preview of three songs featured on the DVD, and trailers. Disc Two includes an 85-minute featurettle ("The Works") telling you everything you wanted to know (and then some) about the making of this movie, audio commentary with writer/director Rob McKittrick and producer Jeff Balis, which acutally extends the length of the movie by about 36 minutes, six minutes of conversation with actual waiters/waitresses, and some more scene-specific audio commentary with selected cast and crew members.
Story Synopsis:
If you have been Waiting...for a comedy peppered with high-school bathroom humor and sexual references in every scene, wait no longer, your order is up. Friends since puberty, Dean (Long) and Monty (Reynolds) are stuck in the endless rut of waiting tables at flair-friendly Shenangian's and partying until the wee hours of the morning, until Dean decides he wants more...he wants to be a teacher. But will a newly-offered assistant manager position keep him near the checkered tables? Colorful cast of characters keep this comedy moving, with Naomi (Ubach) stealing every scene she's in. Not for younger viewers. (Jack Kelley)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture exhibits richly saturated colors that tend to appear slightly over-saturated with poor delineation. Images are generally sharp, but finer details are limited. Contrast and shadow delineation are adequate. Pixel breakup can be a problem at times, but there is no obtrusive edge enhancement. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
Combining a mix dedicated to the front three screen channels with honky, distant-sounding dialogue and noticeable background hum makes for an uninspiring Dolby
