Story Synopsis:
Controversial at the time of its release for its graphic and copious depiction of violence, The Wild Bunch is a classic Western by the unparalleled master of the genre, Sam Peckinpah.
DVD Picture:
Compared to the previously released, harsh, non-anamorphic DVD, this new anamorphically enhanced 2.38:1 DVD will knock your boots off! The fantastic restoration effort brings new life to The Wild Bunch, and features a much more clean and solid picture. Flehstones are still brownish, but for a western, brown hues are expected. Minor film grain is inherent in the source element, but major artifacts have been cleaned up. Slight edge halos are noticed, while the previous disc was plagued by the distraction. While the previous DVD was given a reference quality score, it is by no means superior to this new edition. (Suzanne Hodges)
