Story Synopsis:
"The Thing About My Folks," thinks Ben (Reiser), is that they've been happily married for a lot of years. So, no one is more surprised than him when his dad (Falk) shows up unannounced with news that Ben's mother (Dukakis) has left him with nothing more than a note left on the refrigerator. Not knowing what to do with dear old dad, Ben invites him to accompany him on a trip upstate to look at some property. And what starts out as a simple drive to the country turns into a making-up-for-lost-time journey unlike anything either one of them could have planned. (Tricia Spears)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture is a little bit dim, with a color palette that tends to look a bit ruddy. Still, images are generally sharp and detailed with satisfying contrast and shadow delineation. Minor edge enhancement and pixelization are noticed, but overall this is a generally pleasing picture that is acceptable for the storytelling. (Suzanne Hodges)
