Story Synopsis:
Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, follows up his critically acclaimed album of 2005 with a concert performance titled Eels With Strings, backed by a seven-piece band consisting of a string quartet and two multi-instrumentalists juggling the likes of lap steel, guitar, upright bass, mandolin, musical saw, and pump organ. Recorded June 30th Live At New York
DVD Picture:
While the anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture opens and is peppered with black-and-white imagery, the concert performance is presented in color. The picture can be very nicely rendered with accurate fleshtones, natural hues, and deep blacks. Depending on the source camera, shots can be nicely textured or softly focused. The stage lighting spots the stage with vibrant color. Minor distractions in the way of pixelization or shimmering details are noticed, but fans should not be disappointed with this DVD.
