    Ferris Bueller

    DVD Picture:
    Compared to the previously released DVD (reviewed in Issue 37), this new anamorphically enhanced 2.32:1 DVD has been cleaned up a bit and looks much better. Colors are nicely saturated, with well-balanced fleshtones and deep blacks. Images are sharp and nicely dertailed, with better definition than on the previous disc. Shimmering artifacts noticed on the previous DVD are rock solid on this version. While some scenes are still a bit soft and dated, this new DVD is certain to satisfy videophile fans of the movie. The source element has been cleaned up, and flecks of dirt are no longer a problem. Minor pixelization can be detected, but there is no bothersome edge enhancement. (Suzanne Hodges)
