Beware, certain players may automatically select the fullscreen version of the movie. Grrrrr. Anyhow, you will find three deleted scenes, an alternate ending, a two-and-a-half minute unfunny blooper reel that is nothing to bark home about, a bark-along for dogs and sing-along for humans featurette, and the doggoned opportunity to view the film while listening to Director Robbins and Producer Hoberman.
Story Synopsis:
If you're a sucker for a sheepdog shooting the curl (surfing) and a huge Tim Allen fan, The Shaggy Dog could be for you. Based on the 1959 Disney classic, this updated edition has Deputy District Attorney Dave Dougles (Allen), an ever-away-from-home family man, caught in the middle of a top-secret experiment gone terribly wrong, and is inadvertently mutated into hairy canine. But it while on all fours he discovers the importance of family, and he is doggoned determined to win them back. (Jack Kelley)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced DVD picture generally shows good detail. Colors are nicely saturated with well-balanced fleshtones, rich hues, and deep blacks. Despite the kid-pleasing color palette, some smearing is evident, and apparent pixelization can distract finicky adults. (Suzanne Hodges)
