  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
For Nate, Ruth, David, and Claire, everyday above ground is a good one at the Fisher & Diaz funeral home. And as they help those along in going Six Feet Under, their own trials and tribulations make for a very entertaining complete fifth season of the acclaimed HBO Series. Season Five includes guest stars Lili Taylor, Catherine O'Hara, Jeremy Sisto, Joanna Cassidy, Patricia Clarkson, and Kathy Bates. (Suzanne Hodges)

DVD Picture:
When evaluating this television series as a whole, the anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVDs offer very pleasing image quality. Sharpness and details are quite satisfying, at times with exceptional texture, although other times appearing slightly smeared. Still, contrast and shadow delineation are well-balanced. Colors are nicely saturated with accurate fleshtones, rich hues, and deep blacks. The picture can have a stylized, slightly desaturated appearance that adds a dreary character that is complementary to the storytelling. Some pixelization and minor edge halos are noticed. (Suzanne Hodges)

Soundtrack:
Typical of HBO
