Story Synopsis:
Set in the cold Russian countryside, young Vanya (Spiridonov) is one of the few and fortunate orphans who is to be adopted by a loving Italian couple. But when he learns that this pending adoption would prevent him from ever seeing his birth mom, he throws away his well-to-do future, and sets afoot
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.66:1 DVD exhibits a hazy, undefined picture, with poor black levels and contrast. In night scenes, the color scheme is limited to earthy tones, which, combined with the hazy image, defines the bleakness of the environments. During the day, however, the colors become more vibrant and realistic. While the picture does have its problems, it can be enjoyable. (Danny Richelieu)
