Story Synopsis:
Ex-Marine and convict Tim Kearney (Walker) is marked for death by the Arian Brotherhood gang while serving his sentence. He is unexpectedly given a chance to walk out of jail alive by a scheming DEA Agent (Fishburne). All he has to do is impersonate the infamous but recently deceased drug-lord Bobby Z. Based on the novel by Don Winslow. Special features are limited to previews and Behind The Scenes Of Bobby Z (11 minutes). Stacey Pendry)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.32:1 DVD has a generally pleasing image, with good detail and sharpness. Black levels are deep and shadow delineation is solid, helping create a very dimensional-looking picture. Colors are generally balanced nicely, but they can look artificially saturated in some outdoor scenes. Edge enhancement does not become too big of a problem, other than over high-contrast transitions, but pixel breakup and compression artifacts can be problematic. Many scenes look good, but there are too many inconsistencies. (Danny Richelieu)
