    Special features on Disc One of this two-disc set include a feature commentary track by Writer/Director Frank Darabont, eight deleted scenes available with an optional commentary track, a seven-minute featurette Drew Struzan: An Appreciation Of An Artist, three behind-the-scenes Webisodes (ten minutes), and trailers. On Disc Two special features consist of a full-length black-and-white version of the film with or without an introduction by Darabont and the following featurettes: When Darkness Came: The Making Of The Mist (37 minutes), Taming The Beast: Shooting Scene 35 (12 minutes), Monsters Among Us: A Look At The Creature FX (13 minutes), and The Horror Of It All: The Visual FX Of The Mist (16 minutes).

      WSR Narrative Review
    Story Synopsis:
    When a malevolent fog engulfs a small town, killing anyone unfortunate enough to be caught outside, a group of townspeople are trapped in the local grocery store. David Drayton (Jane) and his young son are among the small group of terrified citizens in the store who have banded together in a fight for survival. However as The Mist spreads across the town, David is left to question which is more frightening: the monsters lurking in the fog or his fellow townsfolk. Based upon the novella by Stephen King.     DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 1.83:1 DVD exhibits a somewhat pleasing image, with a solid sense of dimensionality and resolution is fairly impressive, although there are times when the image can look somewhat soft. Fleshtones generally have an overly pinkish hue. Black levels are somewhat elevated and the heavy noise is most unsettling in the darkest scenes, to a point that it becomes a distraction. Shadow delineation is maintained to a point, although details in the near-black areas can look crushed. The image often looks harsh and digitized. (Danny Richelieu)

    Since Issue 5 (my first), I focused on reviews of Laser Discs and now DVDs, and From The Editor's Couch. Also, WSR has a lot of punch in the new equipment features. The technical essays have been superb! My home theatre setup depended (and still depends) on knowledge gained from WSR. WSR has become the media reference for me with regard to picture and sound quality assurance in display equipment and widescreen entertainment (movies, music events, and documentaries). I still do not have Issues 1 through 4 or the Premiere Special Edition of WSR and hope you put them on the subscribers' site eventually, so that I can giggle at some of the early typos and slips (if you leave them in). However, I'm sure that the early editions make for interesting historical reading as well, because I believe WSR has moved the display industry forward through the pushing the envelope attitude of Gary Reber. Carry on.
