Story Synopsis:
Nominated for seven Academy Awards
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD is a dramatic improvement over the LaserDisc reviewed in Issue 10. The dated picture exhibits sharper and more refined images when compared to the LaserDisc. Colors are more naturally rendered, with realistic shadow delineation, while the nighttime scenes on LaserDisc seem almost black-and-white. Film grain is revealed, but the overall picture is much more solid than the LaserDisc. Image quality, when viewed alone, is generally mediocre.
