Story Synopsis:
Based on a story by Charles Bennett and D.B. Wyndham-Lewis, The Man Who Knew Too Much was actually made twice by director Alfred Hitchcock: the first time in 1934. Considered superior by Hitchcock, this Jimmy Stewart-Doris Day version won an Academy Award
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD looks quite nice for its age. While colors are nicely balanced, fleshtones appear a bit orange, almost looking painted. Blacks are deep, but undefined. Images are sharp, with nicely rendered detail and definition, though somewhat hard-edged at times. Fine details shimmer on occasion, but overall the picture is quite solid. Flecks of source element artifacts are scattered throughout, and film grain is also revealed. Edge enhancement is the most prominent distraction, as pixelization is rarely noticed. (Suzanne Hodges)
