Story Synopsis:
DVD Picture:
The non-anamorphic DVD is a recycled transfer, exhibiting a picture that is only slightly improved over the LaserDisc reviewed in Issue 31. The picture is really nothing impressive, though when compared, sharpness is improved with some enhancements in fine detail, clarity and black levels. Overall, the dated picture is generally unimpressive, with images that are wanting in sharpness and detail (despite said improvements over the LaserDisc). The picture has a bit of a dark character, but visual information is generally good in all but the darkest scenes. Some scenes are extremely "pasty" and wanting in definition. Source element artifacts and fine film grain are noticed. Other than being distracted by the overall soft character, some pixelization and edge enhancement are evident. (Suzanne Hodges)
