Story Synopsis:
Set in the 1960s, Laura Quinn (Moore) is a bright and ambitious executive at the London Diamond Corporation, who finds herself increasingly frustrated as her male colleagues are promoted within the company, despite her greater experience and superior job performance. Sensing her frustration, a longtime night janitor named Hobbs (Caine) solicits Laura's help in pulling off a Flawless heist aimed at achieving a comfortable early retirement for them both. (Stacey Pendry)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.31:1 DVD exhibits nicely balanced contrast with consistent black levels. Unfortunately, the black levels are elevated slightly, and shadows nearest to black appear crushed. Color is balanced well, and while resolution is excellent at times, there are instances where the image is noticeably softer. Compression artifacts are recognizable, but are rarely a big distraction. Edge enhancement, as well, can be fairly heavy and distracting. (Danny Richelieu)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack is generally limited to the front screen channels, but there are rare instances when the surrounds are incorporated well. Fidelity is smooth and natural, but dynamic range sounds somewhat restrained. Deep bass is not a major factor, but when incorporated it is well defined. Subtle noise can be heard in the more quiescent scenes. (Danny RIchelieu)
