    Story Synopsis:
    Based on the novel by Graham Greene, The End Of The Affair takes us to England during the start of the Second World War. Sarah Miles is restless and bored in her stodgy marriage to Henry Miles, a British civil servant, so when he introduces her to Maurice Bendrix (Johnson), an American writer, she can barely hide her infatuation. So when Bendrix (the cad!) makes romantic advances to Sarah, she melts into his arms. But suddenly...Sarah ends the affair! Maurice is deeply wounded and hires a private eye to find out if Sarah a callous floozy or a deeply sensitive woman? A classic tearjerker...don

    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD black-and-white picture is riddled with source element artifacts and scratches, but otherwise the picture looks just fine for its age. The gray scale is nicely balanced with generally deep blacks. Images are nicely detailed, though overall, the picture is slightly soft. Shadow delineation is nicely rendered, as is contrast. There are no major distractions, for a picture that should surely please. Film grain is revealed throughout, but never seems excessive or bothersome. (Suzanne Hodges)
