Kind sirs and fair ladies, no longer must thy lack the sweet of enlightenment of the works of Shakespeare be a plague on your soul. For here, we are favoured with a contemporary version presenting Ethan Hawke as that most melancholy of Danes, Hamlet...spoken, of course, in the Bard
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits intriguing visuals and pleasing image quality. The picture is sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered clarity and definition. Colors are well balanced with accurate fleshtones, rich hues and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered throughout. A few minor source element artifacts are scattered throughout, but very little edge enhancement. The picture is stylish with solid visuals that should surely please. (Suzanne Hodges)
