WSR Narrative Review

Story Synopsis:
Teenagers will probably enjoy the tearjerker Here On Earth. It stars Leelee Sobieski as Samantha, a two-timing teen from the poor side of town who meets up with prep school hottie Kelley (Klein) who crashes into, and destroys, a local eatery with his new Mercedes. Stuck spending the summer in the little town repaying his debt, he and Samantha strike up a heated relationship. That is until Samantha

DVD Picture:
Even in scenes that really shouldn't be, the anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture is quite dark throughout. The color scheme is warm, with lots of golden hues. With this in mind, colors are nicely balanced, though a little plugged-up. The picture is sharp, but fine detail is limited. On occasion, pixelization is noticed. The darkest scenes, despite the dim character of the picture, can exhibit good shadow delineation. Overall, the picture can be easy on the eyes, but its dark nature can be bothersome.
