DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD has a stylized look that enhances the 1940s setting of the movie. Colors are well balanced, and fairly muted, but with natural fleshtones and deep blacks. Images are sharp, with fine detail noticed in backgrounds and clothing details, though some scenes appear slightly soft and hazy. While edge enhancement is noticed on occasion, the picture is very solid, with little detected pixelization. Minor source element artifacts are apparent, but do not distract. (Suzanne Hodges)
