Story Synopsis:
Based on the biography by Hilde Eynikel, Molokai: The Story Of Father Damien tells the both moving equally sad story of the Belgian man of God who volunteered to travel to the remote Hawaiian Island of Moloka
DVD Picture:
The 2.35:1 DVD is not anamorphically enhanced, and exhibits a picture that is generally wanting in sharpness and detail, though, colors are fully saturated, with balanced fleshtones, rich hues and generally deep blacks. The picture has a dated look, likely due to stylization for the late-1800s setting. Edge enhancement is noticed, as are occasional aliasing problems and pixelization. Overall, the picture is generally mediocre, though some scenes are nicely rendered. (Suzanne Hodges)
