DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits a clean picture that is easy-on-the-eyes. Images are generally sharp and detailed, though some scenes are softly focused. Colors are well balanced with natural fleshtones, subtle hues, and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered throughout. There are no major distractions for a picture that is solid and pleasing throughout. (Suzanne Hodges)

DVD-ROM Review:
After installing the PCFriendly compatible DVD-ROM features this title includes, you are allowed to watch a brief introduction, presenting a condensed version of the story behind Meet the Parents. After this intro, the main menu appears, with links for The Proposal, The Den, The Interrogation, The Circle of Trust, and The Wedding. The Proposal contains biographies for six of the main characters in the movie. These biographies are actually of the characters, not the actual actors and actresses. Also here are more in-depth story notes, that are very easy to read. The Den is where you can find the trailer, three desktop images, and 20 still images from the film. The still photos can be enlarged by clicking on them, and then printed by right clicking on the new window that appears. In the Interrogation, there are three mini-games that can be played. The first is a lie detector test, which can be easily passed by answer the questions as quickly as possible. The second, Mate Match, asks you to insert the name of your mate and your own to see if you two are a perfect match. And finally, the third is called Meet the Parents, and asks you questions, putting you into different scenarios, to see how well you would act when you meet your mate's parents for the first time. All of the DVD-Video special features can be accessed from the DVD-ROM side by going to the Circle of Trust section. The features available are Spotlight on Location, Deleted Scenes, and Outtakes. Cast and crew biographies can be found in the Wedding section (20 in all). These biographies include major films each has worked on, and includes a picture for most. When playing the movie from the PCFriendly software, it loads through Universal's advertising rubbish, to the opening scene of the movie. I really enjoyed the features included with this title. I would have been even more impressed if a script was available, but it really could not have boosted the overall score by much. This is an excellent title to check out. (Danny Richelieu)
