Story Synopsis:
Based on the book by Edith Wharton, The House Of Mirth stars Gillian Anderson as Lily Bart, a woman at the top of the heap of New York
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a soft, stylized picture to enhance the setting of the film. Still, detail is nicely rendered throughout. Colors are warm, with good balance, and nicely rendered fleshtones. Shimmering details and pixelization can be a bit bothersome, creating a digital appearance at times. There are also a few instances in which aliasing problems are noticed. The intended look is nicely captured, but the digital distractions take away from a generally pleasing picture. (Suzanne Hodges)
