DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits a lovely picture, with colors that are rich and well balanced, with bold reds and blues that pop from the screen, natural fleshtones, and deep blacks. Images are sharp and nicely detailed throughout. Contrast and shadow delineation appear quite natural. There is a little bit of pixelization detected, but overall the picture is fairly solid and should surely please. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The 5.1-channel soundtracks are music and dialogue driven, and as such should deliver with reasonable satisfaction. The dialogue production is commendable, with distinctiveness and clarity with notable spatial integration. Frontal soundstage imaging is quite ample throughout with gentle to moderate surround envelopment (with sparse occasions for which there is prominent activity). The activity in the surrounds is appropriately reserved, given that much of the film takes place indoors. The music nicely fills the screen soundstage with typically gentle surround envelopment. The low-end is expectedly conservative but is amply notable at times, and except for the opening seaside sequence the .1 LFE is not a significant factor. The DTS
