Story Synopsis:
John Singleton returns to South Central, L.A. for Baby Boy to tell the story of Jody (Tyrese), a 20-year-old African-American who is trying to live large, but is jobless with two children by two different women, and still lives with his 36-year-old mama (Johnson). While facing the burdens of adult responsibility, he also contends with a troubled friend (Gooding), new adversary (Dogg), and his mother's reformed gangster live-in boyfriend (Rhames). DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture exhibits sharp and well-defined images, with nicely rendered textures and facial details, though some scenes are softly focused. Colors are rich and warm, with accurately rendered fleshtones and deep blacks. There is some edge enhancement and occasional pixelization detected, but overall the picture is quite satisfying and easy-on-the-eyes. (Suzanne Hodges)
