Story Synopsis:
The quiet and beautifully crafted film, The Vertical Ray Of The Sun tells the story of three sisters, their husbands, and a brother who gather together for the anniversary of their mother
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits images that can be quite sharp and detailed, though there is some smearing noticed in the backgrounds. Colors are vibrant, with lots of lush green hues, but balance is nicely rendered. Some scenes are highly contrasted, with blown-out whites and hazy images, creating a moody appearance that compliments the story. Overall, the picture is easy-on-the-eyes. A hint of edge enhancement is detected, but pixelization is not a problem. (Suzanne Hodges)
