Story Synopsis:

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture exhibits images that are sharp and nicely detailed. The flashback scenes to Hedwig
Soundtrack:
The 5.1-channel discrete soundtracks excel with the well-recorded music performance sequences, which aggressively fill the soundstage, with a particularly convincing, holosonic presence that should tastefully captivate. Also associated with the music is quite an abundance in the low-end, with the .1 LFE being very active. The crafting of the soundstage for the music is particularly noteworthy for this soundtrack, and in this respect the surrounds, utilized aggressively, really serve to benefit the surround sound listening experience. Otherwise, the soundstage, in the presence of atmospheric effects, is subtly, yet effectively engaging with a gentle sense of immersion and expansiveness. DVD-ROM Review:
After running the InterActual Player 2 software, you are brought to the flashy DVD-ROM main menu, which has links for a Jukebox, the Original Web site, and Hot Spot. In the Jukebox section, you can listen to the 12 songs featured in the film, and also watch the scene where the song is sung. You are given options to play each song in order, select which songs to play from a list, and also to randomly play all the songs. The seek time for running the video is very quick switching between each song. Clicking the link for the Original Web site will score you some information on the film, including cast and crew biographies, a trailer, and an online store. Also, you can sign up for a Hedwig newsletter and view the Hedwig message boards. Playing the film from the InterActual software loads quickly to the DVD-Video main menu, which works well using your mouse. There really is not much to Hedwig and the Angry Itch as far as DVD-ROM is concerned. The theme is well done, and stays consistent with the film. The Jukebox section is a great new twist to the InterActual software's features, but is not enough to boost this title's rating much. |
