    Other than the shameful up front ads, this special edition DVD is one of the best produced thus far. Disc One includes a sound effects-only track (in Surround EX) and audio commentary with director Pete Docter, co-director Lee Unkrich, and executive producers John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton. The second disc offers a perfectly themed menu which offers two doors (Humans Only and Monsters Only) and three scream tanks filled with supplemental material. The scream tanks offer the famous Disney animated Outtakes (which are found elsewhere on this DVD as well) and two computer-animated shorts:

    DVD-ROM Review:
    The DVD-ROM features of Monsters, Inc. can be found on the second disc of this two disc DVD release. After running the InterActual Player 2 software, a DVD-ROM main menu will appear with links labeled The Lunch Room DVD-ROM Game, Peek-a-Boo: Boo's Door Game, and Disney Storyline: Welcome to Monstropolis. The Lunch Room game pits you in a cafeteria tray filler with the unattainable goal of getting everyone the meal they want. You are given an order list with pictures of the food you must select and you must fill the trays within a certain time limit. The food circulates in rotating displays, and you must stop the motion when the food you want appears. If you mess up the order you have to start over, and getting it correct brings on the next tray. I played for the better part of an hour only to never find an end to the stream of trays, so it was impossible for me to find if a reward was offered for completing the mission. Boo's Door Game is a game found on the DVD-Video side of the disc, where you must go through different doors leading to kid's rooms around the world looking for the broken pieces of Boo's door. Mike narrates you through the adventure as you poke through the different inanimate objects throughout the rooms. After finding all the pieces Mike congratulates you and Sully and Boo are reunited for one last hug. Welcome to Monstropolis is a read-along story about Monsters, Inc., telling about how they originally got the power needed for Monstropolis and how they get the power now. There are a few doors you can click to make the story a little more interactive, but remember--do not touch the monsters! This section is also on the DVD-Video portion of the disc making it accessible on your stand-alone DVD player. Here is another title with very little available solely for the DVD-ROM users, but what is here is great for the title's target audience. The DVD-Video games are a little more enjoyable then the DVD-ROM game, and as such, Monsters Inc. deserves a mediocre DVD-ROM rating. (Danny Richelieu)

    Reason #26 Why Readers Love Widescreen Review:

    Before WSR, there was a 4:3 picture tube. After WSR, there is a nice 65 inch widescreen rear projection TV. However, it's only a beginning, because WSR started a dream.
