    Alex Hitchens (Smith) is a charming "date doctor" who is well versed in teaching hapless guys how to become irresistible to women. He has hooked up his buddy Albert Brennaman (James) with the out-of-his-league Allegra Cole (Valletta)...a relationship that is a great target for the tabloids. But when it comes to his own love life, and his crush on Sara Melas (Mendes), Hitch is not much of a ladies' man. Their first date turns out to be a train wreck. Soon Hitch is trying to save Albert and Allegra's relationship, as well as his own. (Suzanne Hodges)

    Special features include the eight-minute featurette Dance Steps Made Easy, the 11-minute featurette The Dating Experts, a four-minute gag reel, and high-definition previews.

    The 2.35:1 MPEG-2-encoded Blu-ray Disc image is terribly inconsistent. At times, image detail is good, with textures easy to determine, but at other times it can look very soft without any real definition. Indoor and day scenes are sometimes washed out. Fleshtones are generally accurate and colors are well balanced and nicely saturated, although that haze can really take away from the overall quality. (Danny Richelieu)

    The uncompressed 5.1-channel LPCM soundtrack sounds good, with dialogue generally sounding natural, although slightly bright and occasionally strident. Music is recorded well. The mix, however, is lacking in excitement, which is generally the case with movies of this genre. Atmospheric effects are presented in the corner full-range channels, but without much zest.
