    Based on the novella by Tim Lebbon, Pay The Ghost is about one man's desperate search for his missing child. One year after his young son disappeared during a Halloween carnival, Mike Lawford (Cage) is haunted by eerie images and terrifying messages he can't explain. Together with his estranged wife (Callies), he will stop at nothing to unravel the mystery and find their son––and, in doing so, he unearths a legend that refuses to remain buried in the past.     The 2.40:1 1080p AVC picture is stylized, with segments that often exhibit a greenish tint and softness, while other segments are bright and vivid with excellent resolution. Detail can be superb at times, especially in closeups. Colors are naturally hued and nicely saturated at times, while at other times colors are a bit muted. Fleshtones are generally natural in appearance. Contrast is decent, with deep blacks and revealing shadow delineation. Overall, the imagery appears digitally rendered with varying density and fine resolution. (Gary Reber)

    The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack delivers eerie sound effects and atmospherics that effectively create a haunting feel. Sound effects such as thunder and gushes of wind are effectively eerie, as are other sounds that intensify the thrills. The music score is reserved but effective. Deep bass enhances the dynamics of the sound effects. Dialogue is generally well integrated spatially. The soundtrack delivers an effective mixture of eerie sonics, which makes for a chilling effect and builds as the mystery unfolds. (Gary Reber)
