The 2.38:1 1080p AVC picture is gorgeously photographed and exhibits a wonderful warm and rich color palette, both in settings in Las Vegas or Paris. Hues are eye-popping. No matter whether in dimly or brightly lit interiors, or on the streets of Paris and Las Vegas, the colors are nicely saturated. Contrast is excellent, with deep, solid blacks and revealing shadow delineation. Lighting highlights enhance the image compositions, which create an emotional intense feel. Fleshtones are perfectly natural throughout, no matter what the environment. Resolution is excellent, with fine detail apparent throughout, especially in close-ups of facial features, hair, clothing fabrics, and object textures. This is a terrific-looking picture that packs moody stylization. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is eerie in sonics, which effectively creates the building of intensity and suspense. In the backdrop are brooding low-frequency atmospherics, which heightens the realism of the atmospheric sounds that define the varying environments. Sound effects are boosted with effective .1 LFE energy. The orchestral score is eerie in feel and nicely recorded with a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. The soundtrack delivers a sense of spatial dimensionality in the soundfield, with an excellent sense of holosonic® envelopment. Dialogue is intelligible throughout, with excellent spatial integration. This is a well-produced sonic experience that perfectly sets the mood for this unique thriller. (Gary Reber)
