Inspired by the Vanity Fair article "Marie Colvin's Private War" by Marie Brenner, the movie is based on an exciting true story that follows legendary war journalist Marie Colvin (Pike). In a world where journalism is under attack, Marie's mission is to show the true cost of war, driving her, along with renowned war photographer Paul Conroy (Dornan), to embark on the most dangerous assignments of their lives as they journey to the frontline of conflicts across the globe. (Gary Reber)

Special features include the featurettes "Becoming Marie Colvin" (HD 03:45), "Women In The World Summit Q&A" (HD 09:52) and "Requiem For A Private War: (HD 09:52); upfront previews; and a Movies Anywhere digital code.

The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa Mini and XT camera systems and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture appears naturally rendered, though, exhibits a rather grim appearance overall. Contrast is excellent with revealing shadow delineation, realistic highlights, and deep black levels. The color palette is naturally hued with no exaggeration, though, a bit subdued and gritty throughout to portray the grim imagery. Fleshtones appear natural within the context of the visual style set by Robert Richardson's cinematography, which effectively sets the mood and seriousness of the storytelling. Resolution is good, especially during close-ups of facial features and objects such as guns and camera gear. This is an emotionally powerful picture that makes the necessary impression and draws one into the horrors of war. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with excellent fidelity. Atmospherics that capture the war setting reveal all manner of insects, birds, varying explosions and debris and are effectively rendered to convey realism, especially during intense war zone segments. Sound effects are perfectly executed, from the sound of authentic gunfire and propelling rocket shelling to the intensity of explosions and shrapnel and debris aftermaths. Surround activity is especially penetrating during the various war zone enactments with all manner of atmospherics and sound effects providing effective envelopment with panned and fixed directionalization. Explosions are realistically enhanced with potent deep bass extension in the .1 LFE channel. The orchestral score is nicely recorded with a strong soundstage presence and huge soundfield envelopment and surround presence. ADR dialogue is used extensively and is forward sounding throughout and wanting in spatial integration. Marie's narration projects excellent presence. This is an effective holosonic® soundtrack that is gripping. (Gary Reber)
