The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia
Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p
with greater resolution and luminance, was
photographed digitally using the rri Alexa Mini LF camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is superb with natural imagery throughout in both exterior and interior scenes, appearing as real environments, not studio sets. The color palette is rich and warm and perfectly natural. Hues are perfectly saturated and never exaggerated. Hues are nicely nuanced in shading densities. Contrast is excellent. Black levels are naturally deep and shadows reveal depth. Highlights are naturally illuminated. Resolution is excellent. Facial features reveal fine lines, skin pores, hair and facial hair. Fabrics are detailed and often striking. Textural objects are diverse and elaborate. The environments exhibit absolute realism and are quite diverse. This is a very natural picture in appearance with a realistic color palette and imagery that is sharp the clear. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused with excellent spatial integration. Atmospherics nicely support the varied environments and enhance the realism of the storytelling. Sound effects are very much reserved and nuanced. The music can be quite lively with at times a disco beat, especially during club scenes, but at other times as well, such as during fashion shows. The music is very complementary with a wide and deep soundstage that extends to the four surrounds and sounds spatially dimensional. Overall, this is a very realistic soundtrack that never exaggerates itself but consistently delivers a sense of realism. (Gary Reber)
