    "A Journal For Jordan" is based on the true story of First Sergeant Charles Monroe King (Michael B. Jordan), a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son. Back at home, senior New York Times editor Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams) revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child. A sweeping account of a once-in-a-lifetime love, the movies is a powerful reminder of the importance of family. (Gary Reber)

    The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa camera system and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is excellent, Naturalness is consistent throughout, Color fidelity s superb with well balanced saturation and natural flesh tones. Realism is impressive. Contrast is perfectly balanced and realistic with deep, natural black levels, revealing shadow delineation, and natural white levels. Resolution is excellent. Facial features are finely defined, clothing is revealing of fabric shadings, and object textures enhance realism. This is a filmic presentation that is perfectly captured and presented.     The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack opens with thunderous wind and explosions in Iraq. The sonics are dynamic, even the New York City atmospherics. Throughout, the orchestral score is nicely complementary and provides warm emotional support for the love story. The music extends to envelop the surrounds. Atmospherics are realistic as well as sound effects, such as the segment during the training on an Army base and during actual combat. During the scene in Iraq the surrounds are aggressively directionalized. Foley sound effects effectively enhance the realism. Base extension sounds naturally deep. Dialogue is well integrated spatially, This is a well crafted holosonic® soundtrack that is satisfying throughout. (Gary Reber)

    Widescreen Review is by far the most in-depth and comprehensive publication in its genre. Readers of all levels of expertise can increase their knowledge and enhance their enjoyment of the Home Theatre experience.
