In "Extreme Prejudice", lean, mean Texas Ranger Jack Benteen (Nick Nolte) locks horns with a former friend, Cash Bailey (Powers Boothe), now a ruthless drug kingpin. Though they're on opposite sides of the law, they share a love interest in the sensual Sarita (Maria Conchita Alonso). When a crew of rogue soldiers descends upon the border town for an off-the-books mission, all roads lead to a bloody, to-the-death showdown, as loyalties shift and the lines between good and evil are blurred. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commenary with film historians C, Courtney Joyner and Henry Parke, isolated score selections with audio interview from music historian John Takis, interview with Director Walter Hill (HD 58:52), the featurettes "The Major's Agenda" (HD 22:57), "The War Within" (HD 24:25) and "Capturing The Chaos" (HD 15:11), teaser trailer, theatrical trailer, TV spots, vintage EPK and still gallery.

The 1.85:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is wonderful with a rich and warm filmic color palette by Technicolor®. Film grain is extremely fine and virtually not visible Colors are nicely saturated yet perfectly natural. Flesh tones are healthy and warm. Contrast is well balanced with natural black levels and revealing shadow delineation. White levels appear natural and non-exaggerated. Resolution is revealing of fine detail in facial features, clothing and object textures. The detail projects a natural image throughout. This is a wonderfully colorful and natural filmic picture. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0-channel soundtrack is stereo, not surround. The stereo imaging is wide across the soundstage. Atmospherics sound realistic. There is lots of sound effects action, whether from vehicle movement sounds, intense gunfire, explosions or more nuanced effects that emulate realism. Jerry Goldstein's orchestral score is sweeping and sounds dynamic with a wide and deep soundstage. Bass energy is deep and often powerful. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration. This is an exciting and dynamic sounding soundtrack. (Gary Reber)
